Ryan is an experienced mediator, arbitrator, and lawyer, with substantial labour and human rights experience in British Columbia and Ontario.

Ryan is also a member of the BC Employment Standards Tribunal and was a member of the BC Human Rights Tribunal from 2022 to 2023.

Ryan gained experience on the Union-side with a small firm in Vancouver, and in-house with CUPE National in Toronto, where he appeared before arbitration boards and panels, as well as human rights and labour board adjudicators. Ryan was subsequently engaged in Province-wide collective bargaining in the education sector in Ontario and then led the labour relations function with the Toronto District School Board as in-house counsel overseeing agreements covering over 40,000 employees.

Upon returning to British Columbia in 2018, Ryan worked in-house with the Health Employers’ Association of BC involved in mediation, arbitration, and collective bargaining before participating in the CAAB Arbitrator Mentorship Program and starting his own practice as a mediator and arbitrator.
