Biographical

With over 30 years of labour relations experience, as a lawyer, mediator and adjudicator, I bring a practical and fair lens to my practice.  I have served as Vice-Chair, Registrar and most recently Associate Chair of Mediation and Adjudication at the British Columbia Labour Relations Board, as well as the Director of the Collective Agreement Arbitration Bureau.  As a respected neutral in these roles, I worked closely with public and private sector parties, including in health, social services, post-secondary, education, mining, construction, retail, municipal, hospitality, automotive and manufacturing workplaces. I have rendered almost 200 decisions as a neutral and settled countless more through mediation.

I have a reputation as an approachable, common sense problem solver, whether engaged in formal or informal mediation, adjudication or a combination of dispute resolution processes.  I understand the real-world circumstances unions, employees and employers face every day and am committed to assisting them in resolving their differences and in the development of more constructive, respectful relationships.  When an arbitrated solution is necessary, parties can be assured they will receive a fair hearing and a timely, easy to understand decision, regardless of whether the dispute is complex or relatively straightforward.

In addition to labour relations expertise, I have assisted parties in non-union workplaces to resolve their differences, including human rights disputes, wrongful dismissal claims, breach of contract (e.g. non-competition/non-solicitation) and shareholder/partnership disputes.
