Jitesh Mistry is an experienced adjudicator and lawyer practicing as an independent labour arbitrator and mediator across Canada.

From 2013-2016, Jitesh was a Vice-Chair of the B.C. Labour Relations Board, where he mediated and adjudicated a broad spectrum of issues including the acquisition and termination of bargaining rights, unfair labour practices, issues with respect to strikes and picketing, as well as appeals of collective agreement arbitration awards.

Most recently, Jitesh served as General Counsel to the B.C. General Employees' Union (BCGEU), one of BC’s largest trade unions. In that capacity, Jitesh advised senior leadership on all legal issues, from labour and pensions to corporate restructuring, construction and real estate development issues. In that capacity, Jitesh also served as employer counsel to the BCGEU, an employer of more than 300 unionized workers.  

As General Counsel, Jitesh also led all appeals and major litigation, including:

• two appearances as intervenor counsel at the Supreme Court of Canada; 
• the National Inquiry into Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls: Final Report, issued June 3, 2019; and
• the Cullen Commission into Money Laundering in British Columbia: Final Report issued June 15, 2022.

Prior to 2013, Jitesh practiced at two leading labour law firms, representing clients in all manner of labour relations sectors, including health, education, construction, forestry, pulp and paper.

Jitesh holds a B.A. (1996) and M.A. (2001) from Simon Fraser University and an LL.B. (2005) from the University of British Columbia. He was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2006.
