Biographical
Bryan carried on a litigation practice in Ottawa from 1973 until December 2015, spending 36 years as a partner and counsel at Scott & Aylen, which became part of Borden Ladner Gervais in 1999. Over that period of time, he appeared in all levels of Courts in Ontario and in a number of administrative tribunals, including the National Energy Board, the Ontario Energy Board, the Health Professionals Appeal and Review Board and, the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal.
Bryan carried on a wide-ranging litigation practice with emphasis on insurance defence litigation, professional negligence litigation, commercial litigation, administrative law, personal injury litigation, medical malpractice litigation and hospital-related litigation. In the course of his 42 years of practice, he has been involved in Mediations related to all facets of his practice.

Rates Information
Mediation Rates: Mediation rates in the City of Ottawa: A rate of $1,650.00, plus HST per half day mediation and a fee of $2,850.00, plus HST for a full-day mediation will be charged. These fees are based upon a full day mediation consisting of all or part of six hours and a half-day mediation consisting of all or part of three hours. The fees are inclusive of 1.5 hours of preparation for half day mediations and two hours of preparation for a full-day mediation meeting. Additional time will be charged at $400.00 per hour, plus HST. A premium may apply to mediations involving more than three parties. In the balance of the Eastern Region, a fee of $3,500.00, plus HST, shall apply for a full day mediation, with the fee encompassing a mediation conference of all or part of six hours, two hours of preparation and two hours of travel time. For times exceeding the above, an hourly rate of $400.00 per hour, plus HST, will be charged. For hearings outside of the Eastern Region, a per diem fee will be negotiated. Arbitration Rates: For hearings within the Eastern Region, a daily fee of $3,000.00, plus HST will be charged. The fee is inclusive of two hours of travel time. The hearing day will encompass 5.5 hours of hearing time. For hearings outside the Eastern Region, a per diem fee will be negotiated.
